Proposed changes to SCCM NorCal Bylaws
1. President-Elect may be chosen from the membership at large if no members of the BOD wish to pursue this position. (Currently, President-Elect must have been a BOD member for at least one year to be eligible.)

2. Secretary and Treasurer may be combined into one position if desired.
3. Members of the BOD responsibilities will be more clearly articulated: to be a member of the BOD, one 1. must be a current dues-paid chapter member, 2. must attend at least 50% of all BOD meetings annually (excused absences at the discretion of the president), 3. must not miss three consecutive BOD meetings, and 4. must actively participate in the activities of the chapter. Each BOD member is expected to participate and/or chair a committee of the chapter OR direct/take an active role in one chapter activity per year which can include directing or teaching educational offerings such as SCCM hosted courses, webinars or educational meetings, organizing social events or joint activities with other organizations.

4. Current Committees are Membership, Education and Social Media. Plan to rename Social Media as Communications and add two additional Committees for Fundraising and Mentorship.

5. Term limits removed for elected BOD members: if a BOD member continues to be compliant with all requirements, remains actively engaged with BOD activities, and desires to continue to provide service on the BOD, they can continue in service “in good behavior” much as judges do. BOD removal/retirement will be based on compliance/engagement rather than simply on time served. (Term limits are still in effect for the executive officers.)
6. Maintain a dedicated pediatric at-large BOD spot and add a dedicated in-training at-large BOD spot.
7. President and President-Elect may recruit and hire an administrative assistant with the approval of the BOD (by simple majority vote) as long as the reimbursement and terms of employment are compliant with state and federal regulations. This would be a part time, non-benefitted position. The assistant would be an independent contractor.
